Summer football camps for fourth through ninth grades scheduled
The Oxford Area High School football program will hold two summer football camps for boys entering fourth through ninth grades from Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Each camp is designed to introduce and sharpen the basic fundamentals of what it takes to become a successful football player. All camps will be held at the football fields near Hopewell Elementary School.
Camps will be conducted by the Oxford Area High School coaching staff, some local area college coaches and players, and members of the Oxford football team. The staff's main responsibility will be to ensure that your son is taught in a fun and friendly manner that will guarantee a good time.
A Skill Camp for quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends is designed specifically for young men who intend to play football in the fall. This is a position-specific camp that will give each camper a head start on what it will take to be a successful QB, RB or receiver.
The camp will consist of drills and fundamentals that are necessary for each position, and campers will be able to try different positions during the week. Age-appropriate footballs will be used.
A Big Man Camp for offensive and defensive linemen will focus on the techniques and fundamentals of line play on both sides of the ball. The first two days will include time to work with the Skill Camp and the last day will be solely dedicated to the linemen. In addition to on-field teaching, the campers will get an introductory lesson in fitness and weight training.
