Gift of $1 million will expand district's educational mission, strategic plan
Oxford Area School District Superintendent Dr. Raymond Fischer recently announced an anonymous $1 million gift to the district that will vastly expand its educational mission and strategic plan over the next few years.
“In the past several budget years we have seen revenues decrease and expenses continue to rise, so it becomes imperative for me and the district staff to explore as many alternative revenue sources as possible,” said Dr. Fischer. “One of my goals as superintendent is to renew and/or expand current federal, state, local, and private funding for additional resources that could benefit our students and staff.”
Dr. Fischer expects the gift to benefit students and teachers in many ways. It will enable the school district to re-establish successful initiatives that have been eliminated from the general fund budget in recent years.
“The donors expressed great enthusiasm in being able to support the important work being done in the Oxford schools, as well as great confidence that our district has the leadership and staff to successfully implement the initiatives this donation will allow us to undertake,” he said.
Dr. Fischer said the district intends to utilize the gift over a period of three to five years. The areas and allocations agreed upon by the donors are as follows:
