OAHS FBLA chapter sends 11 members to State Leadership Conference
Fifty-six members of the Oxford Area High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) were among the more than 400 students from 13 area high schools attending the Pennsylvania FBLA Region 9 Competition at Immaculata University in January. Competing in several business-related categories, 11 chapter members qualified for the state competition to be held from April 12 to 14 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. Students advancing to the state level are second place finisher Elizabeth Peabody, for Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; third place finishers Rachel Axelsson, for FBLA Principles and Procedures; Matthew Portugal, for Introduction to Business; Brendan Mundy, for Computer Help Desk; and Mike Del Sordo, for Word Processing II. |

Also advancing to the state level are fourth place finisher Mandy Mank for Business Law; fifth place finisher Nick Stahl for Computer Help Desk; and sixth place finishers Erika Eisele for Accounting II and Kristin Walters for FBLA Principles and Procedures. The following students placed in the top five in their category, but did not qualify for the state competition: Briar Foran, second place for Public Speaking I; Maria Lombardi, third place for Public Speaking II; Megan Harvey, fourth place for World Processing I; the team of John Orcutt and Spencer Palmer, fourth place for Emerging Business Issues; Joey Gray, fifth place for Word Processing I; the team of Justin Arnold and Jalisa Torres, fifth place for Desktop Publishing; the team of Kelsi Holbrook, Beca Szczwchowski and Sara Rebar, fifth place for Banking and Financial Systems; and Jazmyn Hudson, fifth place for Computer Applications. Additionally, chapter vice president Julie Mason was elected Region 9 Vice President and chapter secretary Liz Atkisson was elected Region 9 Secretary, while Oxford was named Outstanding Region 9 chapter for the third consecutive year.
