Susan
Greer was a four-year field hockey player for Oxford and was twice team
captain. In her senior year she was named a High School All-American.
She was also a four-year basketball player and served twice as team captain.
Her third sport was softball which she played in her junior and senior
years. |
John
Hostetter |
John
was a two-sport athlete at Oxford. In football he played four years as
a middle linebacker, halfback and kick returner. He was a varsity wrestler
for four years, setting several records, and in his senior year finished
in the top three at states. He was district champ three times; regional
champ at 155 pounds in 1983; third in the state at 155 pounds in 1983;
held the record for the most points scored in a match; and had a career
record of 116-20. |

At
Oxford, John earned seven varsity letters in two sports. As a swimmer
he went to the District 1 Championships three times. In his junior year
he won the 100 and 50 freestyle and set a new District 1 record for the
100 freestyle. He placed fourth and eighth at the Pennsylvania championships.
In his senior year he again won the 100 and 50 freestyle, breaking his
own 100 freestyle record. He went on to place fourth and fifth in the
100 and 50 freestyle at the Pennsylvania championships. In track and field
he went to Districts all four years in the javelin, placing third in his
senior year. In his senior year he also competed at Districts in the high
jump, hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay. |
Bill
Ringler |
Bill
was a four-year member of the soccer, basketball and baseball teams. In
his senior year he was captain of all three. He was a member of the 1946
championship basketball team. He went on to play American Legion baseball
for Rising Sun and for Oxford. In 1948 he was chosen to play in the All-Star
Game at Connie Mack Stadium. Bill also played semi-pro baseball in the
Susquehanna League, where he played for Chesapeake City, Perryville and
Rising Sun. |
